Course Superintendent: Hirsch Creek Golf & Winter Club
The HCGWC is a year-round semi-private club consisting of an 18-hole golf course, four sheet curling facility and a restaurant/ lounge area. The club has approximately 300 members and is also in partnership with the District of Kitimat to promote the use of the facility beyond Golf and Curling, to include snow shoeing, tobogganing, cross-country skiing and hiking/walking.
The HCGWC is a challenging 18-hole, par 72, golf course surrounded by some of the most stunning mountain scenery in the Province. With a variety of superbly designed holes, the Course always presents members and guests with a memorable golf experience. The beautiful front 9, designed by Les Furber, winding its way through the wilderness, to create outstanding views from tee boxes and fairways. The back 9 is an established layout that utilizes the natural terrain to form a more traditional golf experience.
The clubhouse is set amongst some of the most scenic views in Northern BC. The club has a 130-seat licensed clubhouse and deck along with a second private meeting / dining room and a recently installed Full Swing Pro Golf Simulator.

- Job Summary
- The Hirsch Creek Golf & Winter Club (HCGWC) located in Kitimat, B.C. has an immediate opening for the position of Course Superintendent.
- Responsibilities
- Reporting to the General Manager, the Course Superintendent will be responsible for the management and maintenance of the Golf Course, including all related personnel, finances, facilities and equipment.
- Qualifications

- A post-secondary turfgrass management-related degree or associate degree from a recognized college or university
- Minimum three years of experience as a superintendent or assistant superintendent
- A firm grasp of all aspects of golf course maintenance and management, including turf management and agronomy, administration, purchasing, budget preparation and execution, capital planning, human resources, as well as all activities associated with day-to-day course maintenance
- Awareness of current technologies and their impact on golf course management and the professional role of the superintendent Advanced knowledge of Toro Osmac irrigation, irrigation software and troubleshooting
- Experience with winter operations including all snow clearing and ice control is an asset Valid pesticide / fungicide application license
- Experience in Curling Operations, ice making and maintenance would be considered an asset.
Leadership Qualities:
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills supporting open communication with the leadership team, course and grounds team and golf operations
- Ability to work closely with other departments and contribute/participate in regular management meetings
- Coordinate and schedule day-to-day activities with the Superintendent
- Assist with personnel and administrative duties such as hiring, training and team reviews Implement and monitor safety rules and regulations consistent with HCGWC & WSBC
- Compensation
- 2024 / 2025 Budget Salary of $ 80,000.00. Base Salary – based on experience/education
